We were established as the junior board of the Jewish bar association, Justice Brandeis Law Society (JBLS) in February 2024. Now named Lights of Tomorrow, our community is made up of 8th - 12th grade students from several schools throughout Westchester and Putnam County, NY, and is hoping to continue expanding.
To equip Jewish youth with the tools necessary to advocate for themselves, the state of Israel, and the Jewish community throughout high school and beyond. By providing Jewish teens with opportunities to connect to their culture, history, and values, we hope to build a strong community of leaders, empowered to be lights for the future of our people and the world.

Our name, Lights of Tomorrow, is in honor of the victims of Oct. 7th, one of whom was Laor Abramaov. True to his name (the “or” in Laor translates to “light”), Laor went to the Nova Music Festival - alongside thousands of others - to listen to music, dance and spread light. He was an aspiring DJ, a valuer of coexistence and someone who never failed to make those around him laugh and feel loved. But on Oct. 7th, Laor was brutally murdered as terrorists infiltrated Israel and the festival site. That day, his light and the lights of 1200 others - in their homes and at the festival - were extinguished by unimaginable darkness.
As the Lights of Tomorrow, we are reclaiming what was attacked on Oct. 7th. We will spread light for those who no longer can, like Laor, by building a community of young leaders prepared to share their stories and spread truth about our people & who are empowered to make our world a better, brighter place. We will be their lights.
In April 2024, we joined the JBLS board in commemorating Yom HaShoah at the Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education in Rockland County, NY. Participants had the opportunity to receive a tour of the museum, and the program was organized by Lights of Tomorrow.
In March and June of 2024, we made and packaged bracelets and cards for families from Kibbutz Kfar Aza, one of many kibbutzim attacked on Oct. 7th.
One year after the horrors of Oct. 7th, we partnered with a number of other organizations (including the JBLS, Israel Forever Foundation & Chabad of Yorktown) in organizing an event to honor the victims and survivors of the attacks, hear Atir Vinnikov’s heroic story of survival, and bring attention to the hostages still in captivity. We were joined by 200+ Jewish & non-Jewish community members.
We’ve held a number of Shabbat dinners to help us build and strengthen our community, allowing our current members to bond with one another and be introduced to new people.
In December 2024, in honor of spreading the light of Chanukah, we partnered with the Israel Forever Foundation in making paintings for teenage survivors of Oct. 7th which were scanned back and distributed to affected teens in Israel.
